Time for coffee then the beach

This is Cafe Azul, recommended by my daughter.  Great juices, shakes and snacks.  The coffee was really good.  (I came back later for chai but sadly it closes at 1500 at the moment)

It is high time to sort out the beach.  Although the grey skies are a little off putting,  it is nice and warm.  Happily, I then happen across the hostal I stayed in all those years ago.  It is unchanged.  I have a feeling though that the buildings all around are new, I remember single story cottages.  I have never forgotten that my favourite hippy trousers blew away in the poniente.

So, it is down to Playa de los Lances.  Here the Atlantic is making big waves and there are types in wet suites on surf boards.

The grassy hills I walked on back in the day are now covered by new flats.  What to say?

This is the view to the west.

Below is the view east with la Isla de la Palomas in the background.

The Isla is reached by an isthmus, reminding me of the castillo in Cadiz but it is not possible to enter. I have heard it could be a detention centre for illegal immigrants but I am not sure about this.  If it is true it is depressing, but with the continent of Africa so near, it makes sense.  I have seen signs: 'immigrants welcome, no one is illegal'.  What are nation states about?
