Malaga, Downtown

I

Wandering round the centre I smile to myself when I see all the shops that would appeal to the young travelling companion, who I bring along to Spain when I can.

And I notice that barber's signs are the same all over Europe.  They signify bandages and venous and arterial blood as barbers used to do all the surgical work for physicians.  Leeches, amputations, whatever!

The Museo Carmen Thyssen is my next stop.  The main focus of the museum is 19th-century Spanish painting, predominantly Andalusian, based on the collection of Carmen Cervera, third wife of Baron Thyssen-Bormemisza.  This museum, a conversion of a sixteenth-century building, opened in 2011.  This is my first visit.  I like the airy, simple interior and the tranquility.  It is so quiet compared with London galleries.  There is an exhibition on at present.

All the big names are here from Toulouse to Jeff Koond but there is little explanation and photos are not allowed.
